Originally dating from the Early Middle Ages, this little church was almost entirely rebuilt in the Romanesque style. It stands on the Piano di San Pietro (Saint Peter’s Plain) which affords some of the widest and most scenic views along the whole of the ‘Sentiero del Viandante’ (Wayfarers’ Path). At 992 metres above sea level, this is the highest point along the route. There are some benches on the flat ground in front of the church, where you can stop to rest and enjoy the lovely scenery.
