The shrine stands in a scenic square with breathtaking views. The building, which stands apart from the present parish church, is now derelict. Rebuilt between 1620 and 1630, it is decorated with stucco work and frescoes and contains the tomb of the writer Paolo Emilio Busi known as ‘il Parlaschino’. On the front there is a walled 13th-century relief with the Star and Cross pattern from the old Romanesque edifice, which an inscription attributes to a votive offering by Queen Theodolinda.
