At the side of road SS 583 between Bellagio and Lezzeno, the ‘Ponte del Diavolo’ (Devil’s Bridge) stretches across a gorge in the dolomitic limestone rock of mount Nuvolone. The mysterious and sombre-looking bridge is said to have been a place of esoterism and witchcraft. It is probably the only construction along the ‘Strada Regia’ to have been preserved in its original form. The bridge marks the end of the ‘Strada Regia’. The stop for the bus back to Como is a few metres along the provincial road towards Bellagio.
