From the Lierna station, keep left and immediately afterwards turn left again into via Parodi going up towards the former Claretian Seminary. Shortly before the Town Hall, turn left into via della Libertà and immediately afterwards right into via Genico. We take via della Libertà to the right which we follow up to Sornico. After crossing the town we continue uphill, passing the Oratory of San Michele and the stone bridge over the Buria stream. The mule track climbs steeply until it reaches the freeway which we skirt for a long stretch between continuous ups and downs. Once we reach an asphalted road, we follow it slightly downhill until we pass Somana. After passing the town, we cross the Meria stream to go up towards Rongio and go down to Maggiana, dominated by the Torre del Barbarossa. From Zana a steep descent leads to the small church of San Giorgio where you turn left following the numerous trail markers that lead to Abbadia Lariana.
